The European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) is an organization that supports trans-national cooperation among researchers, engineers, and scholars across the European continent. It was founded in 1971 with the intention of enabling researchers from different European nations to share their findings with one another; hence, it is dedicated to enabling scientific breakthroughs and enhancing the research, production, and innovation capabilities of Europe. COST has 36 member nations, including all the nations of the European Union, and plays an important role in bridging the gap between technology of European countries; thus, is therefore integral to the economic and technological development of all European nations.
Welcome to JHUMUNC XXII! My name is Varun Naga and I will be your chair for the European Cooperation in Science and Technology committee. I am really looking forward to meeting all of you and working with you to solve issues in Europe by means of science and technology.
I am from Orlando, FL, and I have been involved in Model UN for about 5 years now. I regularly attended conferences in high school and enjoyed participating in debate and meeting other delegates at conferences. Last year, I served as a dais member of the Historical Disarmament and International Security (DISEC) committee. I am a rising sophomore at Hopkins majoring in Biomedical Engineering. When I’m not studying in the library, I spend my time dancing with Blue Jay Bhangra, volunteering with Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity, and taking naps.
I am personally looking forward to hearing each of your unique perspectives on the issues. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns that you may have about the committee! Our dais and staff members cannot wait to meet you at the conference!
